Lance Armstrong has won his seventh bike race; British police shoot an innocent man on the subway. Judith Miller stays incarcerated for protecting her sources. All are notable stories, but the media is playing on the first two and forgetting the third. What was front page news two weeks ago, has become a later-page non-issue. While Matthew Cooper retains some minor buzz in places like the Wall Street Journal (though by now you need a subscription) by targeting Karl Rove, Judith Miller has virtually disappeared from the ink. Why? A shrewd and prolific reporter, Miller, when Googled, shows no new ink. Are we forgetting she is imprisoned as a champion of editorial integrity? Should she come out and drop the dime on Rove? All of this may be a quagmire that mass media wants to avoid. So the question arises as to why this story is so faint, and where is the outcry againstTime Inc. for handing over its sources? Did Cooper and Time Inc. have an agenda to expose Rove and Scooter? Few recall the story Matt Cooper wrote two years ago, suggesting that the White House was after Ms. Plame. Or are we just faced with news and ethical apathy?
